Hello everyone! I’m just starting to plan a potential large-scale/international lolita meet, and I’m really interested in hosting it at Disneyland. With the popularity of Dapper Day and Bats Day/Goth Day, I think Lolita should have a chance to have a day for themselves as well!

The event is currently in the beginning of the organizational stage, and with your help, we can make this a thing! I have a survey, just to get an idea of what everyone would like this meet to be like. If you have even the slightest interest, or even just an opinion on how you feel a large meet should be, please do fill it out! I would be very thankful! The survey can be found here. I’ll be publishing the responses later, on facebook and tumblr.

I had such a great time at Calgary Expo this year. It was time my boyfriend ever went to a convention proper, so I made sure it was a good one.

Recap of the con ahead:

We dove for two and a half hours on the Friday, only to find our hotel was the dingiest thing possible. Thin walls and just plain old, but the beds were incredibly comfortable! On Friday I cosplayed Merrill and got my photo op with Eve Myles. It was amazing, she recognized me right off the bat and was just estatic about the whole thing. She was just so impressed by my costume. Even as she was leaving, she made sure to tell me it was amazing. I was blushing so hard, haha.

Saturday I dressed in Lolita. It was the first time Dylan saw me in lolita so it was a bit of a shock for him, haha. And here I thought I was toning it down! I met Cary Elwes on Saturday, and he was a big sweetie. Absolute charmer and still funny! Dylan had a great chat with him about the Princess Bride, and all of a sudden Cary just pulled his hand and started signing it. We didn’t even pay the autograph fee, he just was happy to hear about our being fans I guess, haha. He gave me a hug and everything after I told him that I’d been a fan since I was young, it was really neat. I also saw Eve Myles again that day. I almost didn’t since I was just so overwhelmed after yesterday, but Dylan kind of pushed me into meeting her. I don’t regret it at all! She recognized me again, out of costume, and called me her little elf, haha. We had a fantastic conversation about Merrill, and I told her exactly why I loved her character and how she portrayed her, and she was actually touched! She said I made her day! 

On Sunday I dressed as Merrill again. Took a few photos with Liz and it was fun! I’m still kind of mad/embarassed/idontknow at Liz and Dylan after they pushed me into meeting Linda Hamilton. I really didn’t want to, since she is very much my childhood hero, and I didn’t want to embarass myself. But I did anyway haha. I basically told her about how much I adored her in T2 and how she shaped me as a person, but then I fucked up when she we got onto the topic of my cosplay briefly that MY name is Merrill, and not the cosplay. I’m so embarassed and humiliated still. I’m really happy I did it but oh god just horrible, Kayleigh.

But all in all it was a fun weekend! I did a lot, took a lot of pictures, ate a lot of expensive con food, haha. Got a lot of con swag for being on a budget! Dylan bought me that PG print and Garrus standee. He’s such a sweetheart!

This is why I shouldn’t be allowed to go to meetups.
